Bachelor in Mechanical Engineering from the Pontifical Catholic University of Rio de Janeiro (1972), Master of Science in Production Engineering from the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro (1979), and PhD in Product Design by FAU - University of São Paulo (1991). In 1994 was a visiting researcher in the Department of Industrial Engineering at North Carolina State University in Raleigh, and in 2001 in the Decision Support Systems Group at the University Pierre et Marie Curie in Paris as well. Currently, Full Professor of the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro where he has been working in the areas of management of product development, product design education and management of technology in manufacturing industries.
Professor of “Escola Politécnica of Universidade Federal do Rio de Janeiro” (UFRJ) since 1980, teaching courses of Manufacturing Processes and Product Design to Industrial and Mechanical Engineering students.
Professor of the Production Engineering Program of COPPE (the Engineering Graduate School of UFRJ) since 1987, teaching courses of Management of Product Development and Management of Innovation.
Supervisor of 18 DSc thesis and 65 MSc dissertations at the Production Engineering Program of COPPE/UFRJ since 1992.
